The role and value of the development of Botany for human beings

Botany is closely related to many sciences. Medicine and organic chemistry are often based on plants, while applied disciplines, such as agriculture, forestry and medicine, are directly based on botany. At the same time, botany also possesses the value of aesthetics like garden art.

Agricultural products are indispensable for people's life. Botany could help us to know the value of each plant regarding to what it can do and how it can be valued by people. For example, rice, wheat, corn are the most important kinds of food in the world. Tea, coffee and ginseng are also become drinks for a long history. Plant fibers not only provide raw materials for clothing, but also can be used in material making like rope and paper.

Botany also plays a great role in soil and water conservation, wildlife protection, hunting animals and fishing.

Many countries in the world have botanical societies and botanical magazines, and botanical gardens are also very common.

Life Use

All animals rely on the photosynthesis ability of green plants to convert sunlight energy into chemical energy, and release oxygen to maintain their lives. Plants are an important link in maintaining the ecological balance of the biosphere.

Aesthetic Use

People will place cut flowers, dried flower and potted plants indoors, and set lawns, shade trees, scenic trees, shrubs, vines, perennial herbs and flower beds outdoors. The images of flowers and plants are usually used in art, architecture, temperament, language, photography, textiles, coins, stamps and armbands.

The art types of living plants include green carvings, bonsai, flower arrangement and tree walls. Ornamental plants sometimes affect history, such as tulip mania. Plants are the basis of the tourism industry with billions of dollars every year, including trips to botanical gardens, historical gardens, national parks, tulip flower fields, rainforests and forests with colorful autumn leaves
